Just because Mormons don't necessarily agree with homosexuality doesn't mean we can't support and love our gay brothers and sisters.

I know several openly homosexual Mormons, and they tell me it’s very difficult, but the greatest thing that helps them stay faithful in the church is the fact that other members of the church see no difference between homosexuals and heterosexuals, because we are all children of God, and that’s all that matters to us.
I’m proud to find a post like this here on tumblr. Here’s an interesting quote from the MormonNewsRoom:
“The Church’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to elect politicians. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is neutral in matters of party politics.” - MormonNewsRoom.org, Political Neutrality.
Even though there are some common political beliefs among many church members, politics aren’t church doctrine and I think the variables within political matters are too broad for even the gospel to indicate directly as black or white. It’s a personal decision that only the voter - a prayerful voter, can make. I wish it weren’t the case, but it shouldn’t be surprising to encounter non-republican members of the LDS church.

I heard there was a lot of controversy over this movie being rated R because kids need to see this movie so they petitioned for it to be changed to PG-13. Anyone know what happened?
^Yes: The MPA rated it R due to “Language”. When a film has five or more expletives, it is beyond the PG-13 rating and becomes R-rated. “Bully” producers got into a huge argument with the MPA over this, after which the MPA has threatened to give the movie an NC-17 rating instead (which, if you’re unfamiliar, means that kids and teens are completely banned from seeing it—with or without adult accompaniment). The producers responded by basically saying, “Well, fine, then we’ll just call it Unrated” — and presently there’s a huge fuss going on between them, but this is all the public knows of it so far.
I know I’m going to cry so hard my whole face will swell like a cabbage. Seriously.
I also hope they do a segment on children on colour being bullied. Because that’s a big issue too. I remember being bullied by my OWN race, to the point where I wanted to kill myself all because they thought I acted “white”. Another story for another day though.
This is an underrated threat to children/teenagers all over the world, especially those that already live in homes infested with negativity. Many parents feel helpless or are ignorant of the severity bullying can have on the ego of our youth and I’m thankful this film has even been made. Since it’s not going to make its’ way to anyone under the age of 18, (those who need to see it the most) I think we should reblog the hell out of this until suicides rates among teens/children decrease.

To Be (Gay) or Not To Be (Happy)

I believe that an important way we receive blessings and revelations from God are through other people. These channels provide opportunities for Heavenly Father to speak to us through the divine power of the holy ghost (if we let it) concerning the righteous desires of hearts. No matter who is the receiver or who is the channel, the spiritual confirmation remains the same.
However misconstrued to the proper, Lady Gaga’s enthusiasm, persistence and faith in sustaining the happiness of individuals subject to all forms of alienation and/or criticism (not just LGBT) is an opportunity for the holy ghost to reveal plain truths concerning our spiritual worth to our Heavenly Father:

Everything about our mortal lives, including our trials and differences, are divinely tailored specifically to each of us. It’s a fact that our callings in life don’t always include a perfect body, family, or even a perfect sexuality and these things can’t always be changed.
But the same goes for all: We are children of our Heavenly Father and He loves all of us perfectly. There is a plan for each and every one of us, whether we have a knowledge of the gospel or not. Our choices within these devine and contrasting frames contribute to our happiness and destinies, not the frame itself.

Though her packaging is shocking, unconventional and contradictory to church standards and beliefs (just like many other music stars), the heart of Lady Gaga’s message in Born This Way is compassionate, tender-hearted and divine among pop idols in today’s society.
